Frederick Hart is one of the most celebrated artists of this past century.  Noted art historian and critic, Donald Kuspit, writes: “Hart’s restoration of the human figure, in all its wholeness and vulnerability…is an important moment in the aesthetic and social history of art.”  On view here is a collection of the artist’s Cast Bronze work, including the recently released “Ex Nihilo Figure 3.”   From Hart’s tympanum in the Washington National Cathedral, these figures and fragments embody Hart’s masterful command of the possibilities of figurative sculpture.   They are evocative of the depths of human emotion, and breathtaking in the skill of their execution.  Hart’s work is shown paired with the abstract paintings of Tangie Belmore and Pat Lambrecht-Hould.
